Assistant Position

We are looking for low paid assistant/well-paid intern/high paid slave to assist at our slightly chaotic but increasingly busy studio/gallery in The Brewery Arts Colony.  The base pay isn't great.  Maybe a hair above minimum.  But we'll throw in lots of chances to get bonuses.  Plus, exposure, experience and other cool perks.

Basically, a lot of things go on here at our studio.  The place is part fine arts laboratory, part design incubator, part photo/film experiment, and part HQ for some awesome events.  The fine art is mainly abstract sculpture, the photo/film is primarily of the dark/alt/fetish variety, the design is a bit on the apocalyptic side, and the events are a mix of gallery shows, charity fund raisers, dinner parties and large club events.

So...we have too much going on around here.  Way too much.

It isn’t easy and we need your help.

_________________________

Now these are some of the things we need done.  Don’t worry, you don’t need to know how to do all of this, just enough to take some of our load off.

- Set up, help run, and help clean up after events

- assist on photo shoots (minimal photo experience required.)

- book models and crew for photo/film projects

- book acts and talent for events

- background model

- assist our MUA/wardrobe/styling

- set building

- coordinate events with outside venues

- help in creation of fine art works

- update social networking/blogs/websites

- help build all of our awesome creations

- help book gallery shows and do help with promoting/selling of fine art

- network and help build our brand

- studio tour guide

- water plants and feed fish at the studios

- order food

- basic paperwork, organization

- studio operations (maintenance,  basic construction, basic art and design)

- wield a paint roller, broom, hammer, screwdriver, etc

So if you think you can do (a) some of those things.  (b) A lot of those things.  (c) None of those things but are eager to learn…then we are looking for you.  We prefer someone with a bit of energy and drive.  Focus is good.  An interest in the arts and especially our design aesthetic would be great.  Good communication skills a plus.

Your own transportation is preferred.  If you have none, a valid driver’s license and ability to drive a pick-up or SUV is required.  And a way to get to the studio (bus, hitchhike, catapult, etc.)  We'll give preference to someone in close proximity to The Brewery.  Also, if you use your personal car to run errands for us, you will be fairly reimbursed for mileage.

Now you’re wondering, how much is the pay and what are the hours?

Well, that is open to negotiation.  We can offer a small base of pay ($8-$10/hour.)  We can also offer opportunity for lots of bonuses and pay increases.  Basically, if your actions help us make money, you get a fair piece of that money.  You’ll get a percentage of the profit from events, parties, and sales. If you get motivated to get some of our art into galleries, we'll give you an agent commission on any sales.

We prefer someone that can work at least some weekday hours.  10-20 hours per week and availability to work events. We are pretty flexible with scheduling, so that can all be negotiated.

And finally, we can offer a serious career boost if you are an artist, designer, or just someone looking for new opportunities.  We have access to extensive networks of people through our events, within the Brewery community, and in the local arts scene.
